His First Lady (Temptation)

Six months after getting married surrounded by family Jeremy Felipe was sworn in as Center City mayor. Stefano Bridges resigned a year early. Jeremy was already added to the ballot as the next mayor and no one was running against him. With over an eighty percent approval rating and the backing of Malcolm Black and three previous mayors he was a shoe in. The only person whose approval rating was higher was his wife’s Aura Brown. Center City was ready for a young, Black, progressive First Lady.

“Are you ready for this?” Jeremy asked Aura, staring down at her. They were in Dominica for a long weekend, flying out in an hour. The kids were with Cinnamon and Malcolm. Her eyes met his, fully connected.

“I am. This is you and I’m with and for you. I’m your wife, which makes me the mayor’s wife.” He placed his forehead on hers.

“My wife…the sweetest words. We can do this. You and me.”

“We can. The city needs us, and Amy and our boys need us to do this. They are counting on us and our village will make sure to cover us.” Aura’s phone buzzed. Glancing at it, she saw it was a message from Rashad.

Lasha in labor. She showed it to Jeremy who immediately sprang into action.

“I guess I’m going to be a grandpa.” He said and made a face of mock horror. Aura grinned at him because she knew he was thrilled to be grandpa to Rashad Jeremy Raines or RJR.

“You are which makes my young, tender self what?”

“Bonus grandma?”

“Ugh—don’t bonus me, that sounds so trendy. We will let RJR decide but now we need to get to the airport, our life is waiting Mayor Grandpa.”
